Lower Merion moved to 3-1 on the season with a 47-38 win at Strath Haven on Tuesday night. Greg Robbins led all scorers with 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, five blocks and four assists. Eric Barefield (13 points) and Kevin Escott (7 points, 3-3 FT) helped pace the Aces attack.
The Aces jumped out to an early 14-6 lead, before the Panthers began chipping away, drawing to within two at halftime 22-20. In the second half, the Maroon & White turned up the defensive pressure, got to the free throw line and grinded out an important, if somewhat sloppy, road win.
Next up for Lower Merion is a Friday night contest at home against Upper Darby, considered by many to be one of this year's Central League favorites. On Saturday, Lower Merion will host the Scholastic Play-by-Play Main Line Classic, playing Penn Wood at 8 PM in the nightcap of a three-game showcase.
