The 2009 Aces collected a number of postseason awards. Clockwise from top left: Greg Robbins '09, Harley Williamson '09, Alon Seltzer '10 and Oliver Cohen '10.
Senior Greg Robbins has been named to the 2009 AP Pennsylvania All-State 2nd Team, becoming the first Aces player to earn All-State honors for three consecutive years since Greer Heindel (1941-43). The Richmond-bound senior concluded his remarkable high school career with 1,619 points, finishing 2nd on the Aces' all-time scoring list, behind only Kobe Bryant. Robbins also earned first-team All-Central League and All-Main Line honors for the third consecutive year and All-Southeastern PA recognition by the Philadelphia Inquirer. Robbins led the Aces in scoring (18.1 pts) and rebounding (9.1), was named MVP of the Villanova Prime-Time Shootout and scored a career-high 38 points -- the highest single game tally by an Aces player since 1996 -- against Upper Darby on 1/21.
Several of Robbins' teammates also received postseason honors in 2009:
Harley Williamson '09 was a first-team All-Central League and first-team All-Main Line selection. The 6'5 swingman averaged 12.2 pts, 7.1 rebounds and a team-high 3.4 blocks per game and hit two game-winning shots, including a buzzer-beater against Penncrest in the Central League semifinals.
Junior guard Alon Seltzer notched second-team All-Central League and first-team All Main Line honors, leading the Aces in three-pointers made (67), three-point percentage (.421) and free-throw percentage (80%), while scoring 12.1 points per game.
Junior guard Oliver Cohen was a second-team All-Main Line selection and was a Main Line Athlete of the Week winner. He led the Aces with nearly five assists per game and had a team-best 3.3/1 assist/turnover ratio.
Senior Vince Weldon, a defensive stalwart who held Quakertown's leading scorer to one point (on a technical free throw) in the District playoff opener, was named an All-Main Line honorable mention selection.
It has also been an award-winning offseason for several Aces alumni. Ryan Brooks '06, who helped lead the Temple Owls to a 2nd consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, was named to the Philadelphia Big Five 2nd Team and won Temple's Herb Litwack Award for "sportsmanship, dediction, devotion and conduct on and off the court." Garrett Williamson '06, a member of the St. Joseph's Hawks, was named to the Atlantic 10's All-Defensive First Team. Dan Capkin '05, who concluded his college career as Gettysburg's fifth All-Time leading scorer (1,514 pts), earned All-League honors in the Centennial Conference and ESPN All-Academic recognition for the third consecutive year.
